In Yavoriv, during a conflict, a 30-year-old man inflicted stab wounds on a 40-year-old local resident. The victim was taken to hospital, where he is receiving medical care.
As established by criminal police operatives together with investigators and other units of the Yavoriv District Police Department, the incident took place on 7 July at around 18:05 on Rynok Square in the town of Yavoriv. A sudden conflict arose between two men aged 30 and 40, during which the younger participant stabbed the older one several times, causing injuries to both his legs.
Law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the suspected offender and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The man has been notified that he is suspected of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional grievous bodily harm).
The sanction of the specified article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and in the near future the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
