In the settlement of Zapytiv in Lviv district, the territorial community has taken ownership of a civil protection shelter with an area of 109.2 sq. m, which can accommodate up to 120 people. This became possible after the intervention of the Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, which secured the actual enforcement of a court decision.
The case concerns an ownerless property located on the outskirts of Zapytiv in an area of industrial and warehouse premises. It was established that more than a year had passed since this facility was registered by the settlement council, and during this time no one had claimed ownership of it.
In such circumstances, the property is subject to transfer into the communal ownership of the territorial community, which became the basis for the prosecutor’s claim. The Kamyanka-Buzka District Court agreed with the prosecutors’ arguments and fully upheld the claim.
The court decision has now been enforced: the Novyi Yarychiv Territorial Community has had its ownership rights to this shelter registered. The settlement council now has legal grounds to equip and properly maintain it so that community residents can safely use the protective structure during air-raid threats.
