At the municipal cemetery in Zhydachiv, unidentified individuals damaged the grave of a fallen Hero of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers have opened criminal proceedings in connection with the incident.
The police received a report about the incident on 7 June at around 15:30 from the parents of the deceased. An investigative team from Police Station No.1 of the Stryi District Police Department attended the scene.
According to preliminary findings by law enforcement officers, the grave of a Hero of Ukraine was damaged at the municipal cemetery. The information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – desecration of a grave, another burial place or the body of a deceased person.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and police officers are identifying those involved in the desecration of the grave. This was reported by the Stryi District Police Department.
