Zolochiv district consumer union official suspected of unauthorised construction of funeral home

In the centre of Zolochiv, an official of the Zolochiv District Consumer Union is suspected of unlawfully occupying a municipal land plot and constructing a funeral home on it without the necessary documents. This was reported by the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, the case concerns a municipally owned land plot in the central part of the town, which does not have a cadastral number and had not been allocated for use to anyone. Despite the absence of title documents for the land and permits for construction, the official arranged for the erection of a building with an extension, with a total area of 112 sq. m.

According to law enforcement officers, the illegally constructed premises were intended to be used for providing paid funeral services, in particular for holding farewell ceremonies for the deceased. However, the establishment did not begin operating, as the unlawful actions of the official were uncovered by law enforcement agencies.

The official has been notified of suspicion of unauthorised construction of buildings or structures on unlawfully occupied land under Part 3 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Zolochiv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.

Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
