The defendant, who has been previously prosecuted for robbery, faces up to ten years in prison for his crime.
According to law enforcement officers, on February 28, around 20:00, in the village of Zymna Voda, Lviv district, a 66-year-old local resident returning from work was attacked by a 43-year-old man temporarily residing in Lviv. The attacker ran up behind the victim, struck him several times in the head, knocked him to the ground, took his cell phone and fled.
Law enforcement officers conducted a series of operational and investigative measures, studied the video surveillance footage of the Safe Lviv Region system, identified the attacker and detained him. It was also established that he had previously been repeatedly prosecuted for robbery.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 4 of Art. 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.
The offender was exposed by criminal police operatives and investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as officers of the Criminal Analysis Department and criminal investigation operatives of the Lviv Police, under the procedural supervision of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office.
