Russian Native Convicted for Killing a Friend in Stryi Region
With the public prosecution by the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, a 66-year-old native of the Russian Federation has been found guilty of premeditated murder (part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 7 years and 9 months of imprisonment.
Crime Circumstances
Prosecutors proved in court that in January of this year, in one of the villages of the Stryi region, the defendant killed his 68-year-old friend. Earlier, that evening, the men were drinking alcohol at the suspect’s home. A conflict broke out between them, during which the host stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife.
The victim ran outside and began calling for help. Neighbors called an ambulance and the police, but the man died from his injuries.
Further Actions
Until the verdict becomes legally binding, the accused will remain in custody. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the investigative department of Police Department No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Administration of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the region.
