Law enforcers detain ammunition dealer in Lviv region
In the city of Brody, Zolochiv district, the suspect, a 45-year-old local resident, sold a hand grenade case to a citizen. He faces up to seven years in prison for his actions.
The offender was exposed by criminal police operatives jointly with investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
On 9 October, law enforcement officers detained the man in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in Brody after he sold a hand grenade shell. The seized ammunition was sent for expert examination to the Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Lviv region.
Investigators of the territorial police unit served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officers are establishing the origin of the grenade, and the issue of choosing a measure of restraint against the suspect is being decided.
