
Former Officials in Lviv Region Accused of Causing State Losses
In the Lviv region, former officials will be tried for causing the state losses of over eight and a half million hryvnias. As law enforcement determined during the pre-trial investigation, former employees of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Drohobych District State Administration falsified official documents by providing incorrect data on the number of people entitled to social benefits and the amounts of such payments. These falsified records were then sent to the bank, leading to monetary payments to individuals who were ineligible to receive them.
Documentation and Investigation
Law enforcement documented 285 episodes of the illegal activities carried out by the accused between 2020 and 2024. Among the ten individuals who illegally received social benefits were relatives and acquaintances of the suspects. The total amount of damage caused to the state exceeds eight and a half million hryvnias.
The pre-trial investigation, opened under part 1 of Article 366 (Official Forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, parts 3 and 4 of Article 191 (Appropriation, misappropriation of property or taking it by abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and part 4 of Article 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court.
Possible Punishment
The maximum punishment provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for up to eight years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
The offenders were uncovered by district police officers and investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office.
