Suspect Arrested in Lviv Region for Robbing Pensioner
It was established that the suspect ambushed the elderly man near a currency exchange point in Drohobych, followed him, and took his money. He faces up to ten years in prison for his crime.
Rapid Arrest
On April 22, around 12:40 PM, the police received a report that on Lesya Ukrainka Street in Drohobych, an unknown man snatched a wallet with money from the pocket of a 75-year-old local man and then fled the scene.
Investigators of the criminal police, detectives, and other officers from the Drohobych district police department of Lviv region were involved in the search and arrest of the suspect.
Investigation and Punishment
Law enforcement conducted a set of operational and investigative measures, studied surveillance camera footage as part of the \”Safe Lviv Region\” program, and promptly identified the suspect—a 43-year-old resident of Stebnyk who had previously been repeatedly brought to criminal responsibility for property crimes. The suspect was detained following article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Based on the facts, the investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych district prosecutor’s office, opened a criminal proceeding under part 4 of article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a preventive measure for the detained suspect.
Law enforcement reminds once again that in the context of martial law, maximum penalties are provided for theft, robbery, burglary, extortion, as well as misappropriation, embezzlement, or possession of property through abuse of office.
