
Man Arrested in Lviv Region for Threatening Father with Grenade
No one was harmed as a result of the incident. Law enforcement officers seized the ammunition and are determining its origin. The detained man faces a sentence of up to seven years in prison for the offense.
Details of the Incident
On April 26, the operational line 102 received a report from a resident of a village in the Drohobych district that his 46-year-old son was committing domestic violence against him and threatening him with a grenade.
An investigative team and officers from other services of the Drohobych district police department, as well as specialists – explosive technicians of the Lviv region police, worked at the scene. Law enforcement officers seized an RGN grenade and a detonator from the offender.
Legal Consequences
The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators from the territorial police unit informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
Pre-trial investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officers are establishing the origin of the grenade, and a decision is being made regarding the suspect’s preventive measures.
