The detainee, a 37-year-old resident of the Luhansk region, faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.
On September 20, around 10:40 p.m., the police received a report that a woman’s body with signs of violent death was found in one of the sanatoriums in Truskavets.
An investigative and operative group and other employees of the police department No. 2 of the Drogobytsky district police department worked at the scene of the incident. As the law enforcement officers established, a conflict arose between the deceased, a 36-year-old resident of Luhansk region, and her roommate, a 37-year-old resident of the same region, during which the perpetrator punched the victim numerous times in the head. The woman died soon after from her injuries.
It was also established that the man was intoxicated. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial unit of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Truskavets district prosecutor’s office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 121 (Deliberate grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
