It was established that the deceased was on the hood of a VAZ-2102 car driven by her fellow villager. While driving, she lost control and fell onto the roadway, sustaining fatal injuries.
On October 13, at 12:15 p.m., the 102 hotline received a report that in one of the villages of the Lviv district, the body of a girl with no signs of life was found on the road with a head injury.
Criminal police operatives and investigators of police department No. 2 of Lviv district police department No. 1, investigators of the department of investigation of crimes in the field of transport, as well as operatives of criminal investigation of the police of Lviv region worked at the scene of the incident. The victim was identified as a 19-year-old local resident.
The injuries found on the girl’s body were uncharacteristic of a car collision, however, as the law enforcement officers later established, she did die as a result of a traffic accident.
It was established that on that night a 22-year-old resident of the village was driving a VAZ-2102 car while under the influence of alcohol, and the deceased girl was on the hood of the vehicle while driving. While driving, she lost control and fell onto the roadway, sustaining a head injury from which she died at the scene.
The law enforcement officers searched for the car and took it to the police station. The driver of the vehicle was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural leadership of the Zhovkiv district prosecutor’s office, opened criminal proceedings under part 3 of article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons who drive vehicles in a state of intoxication) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine . The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to ten years.
