
A resident of Lviv has been notified of suspicion in causing grievous bodily harm.
Under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, a 20-year-old resident of Lviv District is accused of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, dangerous to life at the moment of infliction (Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, on the night of July 21, acquaintances decided to ‘settle matters’ on a rural road between villages in the Lviv District. Their conflict escalated into a fight, during which the suspect, armed with a wooden bat, struck his acquaintance on the head.
As a result, the victim sustained an open craniocerebral injury, brain contusion, frontal bone fracture, and other severe bodily injuries. He was hospitalized. **The suspect has been detained** in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions continue. A series of examinations have been appointed. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being considered.
Pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding is being conducted by investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proved in a legal manner and established by a court conviction.
