While checking documents at the Shehyni checkpoint, border guards of the Lviv Detachment exposed two pseudo-spouses.
This was reported to Holos Sokalshchyny by the State Border Guard Service.
A 33-year-old Kharkiv resident planned to go abroad with the help of a woman with a disability. The man bought the “love” of his “wife” from her mother for 40,000 hryvnias. The young man immediately transferred the money to his “mother-in-law’s” card. The woman also shared with her daughter, but not equally. She gave her daughter only more than 10,000 hryvnias out of the total amount.
The man himself initially claimed that he had met his future “wife” during a holiday in Mukachevo and fell in love with her while drinking alcohol at first sight.
His “wife”, a 33-year-old native of Lviv region, decided not to lie and said that her friend had set up her future “husband” with her mother. After talking to him, the mother told her daughter to get married.
Another couple of “newlyweds” were caught at the same checkpoint. A 52-year-old native of Sumy region intended to leave the country with the help of his fellow villager, a person with a disability. The couple registered their marriage about a month ago. In a conversation, the “spouses” said that they were going to their friend in Poland to borrow money. Afterwards, they would return to Ukraine.
Operational officers of the Lviv Border Guard Detachment sent a report to the National Police about the detection of signs of a criminal offence under Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine”.
