A tragic road accident occurred in the Lviv region, resulting in the death of a cyclist.
The incident took place on August 3 around 22:00 on the Lviv-Lutsk highway in the city of Radekhiv, Sheptytskyi district. According to preliminary data, “the driver of a BMW X5, a 25-year-old resident of Volyn region, hit the cyclist – a 61-year-old local resident.” As a result of the impact, the man sustained injuries from which he died at the scene.
Based on the event, investigators from the transport crime investigation department of the Lviv region police have opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty under the article provides for imprisonment from three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without it.
A pre-trial investigation is underway, and law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
