In Radekhov, the police quickly returned the stolen car to its owner
An offender involved in the illegal possession of a vehicle faces a penalty of up to five years in prison.
On November 3, around 5:30 p.m., the operative line 102 received a report from a 22-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Chervonograd district about the theft of his Daewoo Lanos car, which was parked on Vytkivska Street in Radekhov.
Detectives of the criminal police, crews of the response groups of the patrol police and the investigative-operational group of police department No. 1 of the Chervonohrad district police department were involved in solving the crime and searching for the stolen vehicle.
With the help of video surveillance cameras installed as part of the “Safe Lviv Region” program, the law enforcement officers quickly established the location of the car and the intruder and detained him on one of the streets of Radehova in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The identity of the detainee, involved in the illegal seizure of the vehicle, was also established – he turned out to be a 46-year-old resident of Radekhov.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Chervonograd District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 289 (Illegal possession of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – restriction of liberty for a period of three to five years or deprivation of liberty for the same period.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
