Lviv region to try offender accused of setting fire to village shop

 

After the fire, the defendant left the Lviv region and hid from the investigation for a long time. However, thanks to the coordinated actions of police officers from Lviv and other regions of Ukraine, he was tracked down and is now in custody by court order.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that on 25 April at around two in the morning, the offender set fire to a store located in the village of Reklynets, Chervonohrad district, and fled the scene.

During the fire, the fire destroyed the roof of the building, ceilings, products and technical equipment, and severely damaged the walls.

In the course of the investigation, criminal police operatives, investigators and other officers of the Chervonohrad District Police Department No. 2 established that a 19-year-old resident of Donetsk region was involved in the crime. He had been hiding from the investigation for a long time, but thanks to the coordinated actions of police officers from Lviv and other regions of Ukraine, he was tracked down.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under the procedural supervision of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Intentional destruction or damage to property) has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court.

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to ten years.
