The accident occurred on 14 October, at about 18.55, on the Skhidnytsia-Pisochna road near the village of Skhidnytsia, Drohobych district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Fiat Ducato, a 31-year-old resident of a village in the district, lost control, drove to the roadside and hit two pedestrians, residents of Cherkasy region aged 48 and 59.
As a result of the accident, the women were injured and hospitalised.
Investigators at Police Station No. 1 of the Drohobych District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
