Yesterday, there were two road accidents involving cyclists in the Lviv region – one of them died

The police of the Lviv region once again call on all road users to strictly adhere to the requirements of the Road Traffic Rules, to be attentive and careful!

Both traffic accidents happened on September 29 in the Chervonohrad district. As previously established by the law enforcement officers, around 20.00 on the road between the village of Silets and the city of Velyki Mosty, the driver of an Audi 80 car, a 28-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district, ran into a bicyclist who was moving in the same direction. The man died from his injuries at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being established by law enforcement officers.

According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.

Another road accident happened around 4:00 p.m. in the city of Chervonograd on Heroiv Maidan Street. There, the Opel Zafira car, driven by a 37-year-old local resident, and a cyclist – a 65-year-old resident of the district center – collided. As a result of the accident, the cyclist was injured and taken to the hospital.

According to the fact, the investigators of the Chervonograd district police department opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is restriction of liberty for a term of up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years.

The police are establishing the circumstances of the events.
