Yesterday, 13 September, at around 1.30pm on Povirna Street in Lviv, a 52-year-old driver of a Hyundai Tucson, moving in reverse, hit a 75-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in the wrong place. The victim sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.
On the same day, at around 20.30, on the Lviv-Radekhiv-Lutsk motorway, the driver of a VAZ 21140, a 25-year-old resident of the Lviv district, hit a 54-year-old resident of Kamianka-Buzka who was walking on the roadway. As in the previous case, the man was injured and taken to hospital.
Investigators opened criminal proceedings over the incidents under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
