
On January 17, around 9:00 PM, a tragic road accident occurred on the Lviv-Radekhiv-Lutsk highway near the village of Novyi Stav.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 31-year-old driver of a Peugeot car, a resident of the Zolochiv district, hit a 49-year-old cyclist from the Lviv region. The cyclist died at the scene as a result of the collision.
Investigators from the Lviv region’s transportation crime unit have opened a criminal case under Article 286, Part 2, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules). This article carries a penalty of three to eight years of imprisonment, with an optional driving ban of up to three years.
Police are currently working to establish all details of the incident.
