A Soldier in Lviv Suspected of Influence Peddling

In Lviv, law enforcement officers have notified a soldier of suspicion of influence peddling.

A 55-year-old Lviv resident, a sergeant of one of the military units, was supposed to influence medical staff to send a soldier for treatment for 15,000 dollars. He received the money in two installments: 1,500 dollars as a down payment and 13,500 dollars later. After receiving the second part of the illicit profit, he was detained.

The perpetrator was exposed by Lviv police investigators together with SBU operatives. He has been notified of suspicion of committing a crime under part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with confiscation of property.

The court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect – detention with the possibility of bail. The pre-trial investigation continues.
