In Ternopil Oblast, a military officer has been sentenced to five years in prison for a traffic accident in which a child was injured.
Prosecutors of the Ternopil Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Defense of the Western Region proved in court the guilt of the military officer who caused the accident while under the influence of alcohol. The court found him guilty and imposed a sentence. In May 2024, the military officer drove into the oncoming lane near the village of Smykivtsi, where a collision occurred with another vehicle.
As a result of the accident, a 5-year-old child sustained serious injuries, including a closed head injury and hematomas. These injuries were classified as disfigurement. The driver had previously operated a vehicle while intoxicated, which resulted in his driver’s license being revoked, but he nonetheless violated the law again.
