The road accident occurred on 26 June, around 12.50pm, on the Skhidnytsia-Pisochna road near the village of Solonske, Drohobych district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Peugeot 407, a 47-year-old resident of Lviv, collided with a cyclist, a 17-year-old resident of Kyiv region, as a result of which the athlete collided with two other cyclists, 17-year-old residents of Mykolaiv and Kyiv regions.
All the girls are members of the Ukrainian national cycling team and were conducting a team training session. As a result of the accident, they were injured and taken to a medical facility.
Investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
