One killed and three injured in road accident in Lviv Oblast – police investigate
The road accident occurred on 3 October, around 17.00, on the Kyiv-Chop motorway near the village of Kozova, Stryi district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Renault Lodgy, a 67-year-old resident of the Dnipro region, lost control, drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a Mercedes-Benz Actros 1841LS truck driven by a 53-year-old resident of the Poltava region. The truck was then driven into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a Renault Logan driven by a 34-year-old resident of Kharkiv region.
The driver of the Renault Logan died at the scene as a result of the accident. The driver of the Renault Lodgy and his female passengers, residents of Dnipropetrovska oblast aged 18 and 38, were injured and taken to hospital.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Regional Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
