Accident in Drohobych: Driver Killed and Passenger Injured
A road traffic accident occurred on April 15, around 16:30, on Stryiska Street in Drohobych.
Accident Circumstances
As preliminarily established by law enforcement officers, a collision occurred between a Volkswagen Passat driven by a 24-year-old resident of Drohobych and a KamAZ truck driven by a 56-year-old resident of Boryslav.
Due to the injuries sustained in the accident, the driver of the car died at the scene, and his passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Drohobych, sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized.
Investigation and Legal Consequences
On this fact, investigators from the Lviv police department for the investigation of crimes in the field of transport opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
