Law enforcers establish circumstances of explosion in Lviv
As a result of the incident, a 34-year-old Lviv resident sustained fatal injuries, no other victims were reported. Preliminarily, an F-1 grenade exploded.
The police received a report of an explosion near one of the apartment blocks on Pasichna Street at around 06:30. The investigative team of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, forensic experts, explosives experts and officers of other police services in Lviv region were working at the scene.
Law enforcers identified the deceased as a local resident aged 34, who had numerous shrapnel wounds on his body. It has also been preliminarily established that the man was injured as a result of an explosion of a grenade, probably an F-1.
Investigators of the territorial police unit opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 115 (Premeditated murder with a note “suicide”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the incident and the origin of the ammunition. Forensic examinations have been ordered.
