The traffic accident occurred on February 9, around 7:00 p.m., in the village of Tukhlya, Stryi district. As previously established by the law enforcement officers, an unknown driver of an unidentified car hit a 50-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district and drove away from the scene.
The pedestrian died at the scene from injuries received as a result of the accident.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
A complex of operative and search measures is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the identity of the driver who committed the accident and the location of the car.
A pre-trial investigation is underway.
