Accident in Boryslav: Drunk Driver Hits Teen
In Boryslav, police detained a driver who hit a minor operating an electric scooter. It was established that the car driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Incident Details
The road accident happened on April 29, around 9:30 PM, on Ivasyuka Street in the city of Boryslav, Drohobych district. As preliminary established by law enforcement, the driver of a Mazda CX-5, a 32-year-old resident of one of the villages in the area, hit an electric scooter driven by a 14-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the minor operating the electric scooter sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized. It was established that the car driver was driving the vehicle while intoxicated. He was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.
Criminal Proceedings
Based on the fact, investigators from Police Department No. 1 of the Drohobych District Police Department opened a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules or Vehicle Operation by Persons Driving Under the Influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to three years with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period from three to five years.
