
Tesla Driver Flees Accident Scene, Starts a Chase and Attacks Patrol Officer
Recently, around midnight, a report was received about an accident on Trakt Glynyansky Street. The perpetrator fled, but the reporter memorized the license plate of the Tesla Model S.
Patrol officers identified the driver’s address in the city of Vynnyky and found him there. As soon as they approached the car, the man began to escape and caused another accident.
Chase and Arrest
The chase ensued. The 57-year-old driver was stopped on Dolynsky Street. He showed signs of alcohol intoxication but refused to undergo a test in the manner prescribed by law.
While processing the materials, the driver unexpectedly struck the patrol officer, causing bodily harm. The man was arrested in accordance with Art. 208 of the Ukrainian Criminal Procedure Code.
Legal Consequences
He faces charges under Part 2 of Art. 345 (Intentional infliction of bodily harm to a law enforcement officer in connection with the performance of official duties) of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. This is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years or restriction of freedom for the same period.
Additionally, the inspectors drew up protocols for the offender:
- under Art. 124 (Violation of traffic rules leading to an accident)
- Art. 122-4 (Leaving the scene of an accident)
- Art. 122-2 (Failure to comply with stopping requirements)
- under Part 1 of Art. 130 (Driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol) of the Ukrainian Administrative Code.
