A scheme for the illegal transfer of individuals across the state border was uncovered in the Lviv region.
Through the joint efforts of border guards and law enforcement officers, a channel for illegal border crossing, organized by a resident of the Lviv region, was dismantled. Operatives of the 7th Border Carpathian Unit, together with officers from the Migration Police Department of the National Police in Lviv, investigators of the Yavoriv Local Police Department of the National Police in the Lviv region, and with the support of the special unit \”DOZOR,\” halted the activities of this illegal scheme for smuggling citizens out of Ukraine.
A 46-year-old resident of the Lviv region agreed to illegally transport two residents of the Kyiv region across the \”green\” border, bypassing official checkpoints. He found clients through personal connections and acquaintances. In Lviv, the man met potential clients, who waited in his car for several hours until it got dark. He then, being well-versed with the locality, avoided checkpoints using rural roads to deliver the clients to the border area. About a kilometer from the state border line, he dropped off the passengers and indicated the direction to proceed.
The man has been served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal smuggling of individuals across the state border of Ukraine. The court will soon determine a preventive measure for him. The measures are being carried out under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Defense Sphere of the Western Region.
