Lviv Employee of Strategic Enterprise Exposed in Corruption
In Lviv, law enforcement officers detained an employee of a strategic enterprise who demanded 3500 dollars for employment with reservation to avoid mobilization.
Details of the Detention
Abusing his official position, a 33-year-old Lviv resident undertook to assist in employing a conscript male with subsequent booking of him as an enterprise employee, recognized as critically important for meeting the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to avoid mobilization.
The perpetrator was exposed by investigators from the department investigating crimes in the field of service and economic activities of the Lviv police investigation department, together with operatives from the Strategic Investigations Department in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the defense area of the Western region.
On February 13, law enforcement officers detained the defendant in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in Lviv after he received a sum of 3500 dollars from the ‘client.’
Legal Consequences
The detainee has been informed of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an Offer, Promise, or Receipt of Improper Advantage by an Official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation continues, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect. Law enforcement also checks the involvement of other officials in this crime.
