Letting the cat out and letting the robber in: an attacker attacked an elderly man in Drohobych

У Дрогобицькому районі поліцейські затримали зловмисника за підозрою у пограбуванні

A 31-year-old resident of one of the villages in the district, who inflicted bodily harm on the owner of a house during a robbery, faces up to ten years in prison.

According to law enforcement officers, on March 21, around 9 p.m., an 85-year-old resident of Boryslav was letting his cat out. When the man opened the door, a stranger suddenly broke into the house – he beat the owner of the house, inflicting bodily harm, took possession of all the valuable property in the house and fled.

Later, doctors diagnosed the victim with a broken leg and a concussion.

Officers of the Police Department No. 1 of the Drohobych District Police Department and the Drohobych District Police Department were involved in solving the crime. Law enforcement officers conducted a series of operational and investigative measures, studied CCTV footage, established the offender’s whereabouts and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The detainee was identified as a 31-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, served him a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.

The police once again remind that under martial law, theft, robbery, extortion, as well as misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office, are punishable by maximum penalties.
