Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment was sent to the court against a citizen of Ukraine on the facts of treason, participation in a terrorist organization, and the activities of armed groups not provided for by law (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 258-3, Part 2 Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the 25-year-old resident of Luhansk Region voluntarily switched sides with the enemy in February 2022 and joined the illegal paramilitary formation of the so-called “LPR”. The accused served in the rifle regiment of the “People’s Militia” and performed the duties of a sniper.
He was detained at the beginning of September 2022 in the territory of the Kharkiv region.
The accused is currently being held in a Ukrainian penitentiary.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
