Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, 11 persons were exposed and notified of suspicion, 7 of whom are members of two organized groups. They are charged with illegal acquisition, transportation, storage and sale of narcotic drugs (Parts 2, 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in Lviv, the accused set up a scheme for selling methadone and buprenorphine among drug addicts in prisons.
For this, the members of the organized group, who were at liberty, delivered “goods” to members of another group in prison. They delivered narcotics by throwing them across the guarded perimeter of the colony. To fulfill this task, they involved four more local residents.
Up to 150 drug-containing pills were delivered every week. Estimated monthly profit from the drug business was up to 1.5 million hryvnias.
Drug trafficking was exposed during the transfer of the next batch to the place of imprisonment.
As a result of the searches, narcotics, cash, bank cards, mobile phones, drafts and other physical evidence were found and seized from the suspects.
Investigations are ongoing, the suspects are in custody.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
