Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two citizens were served a notice of suspicion of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations committed by a group of persons (Part 2 Article 28, Part 1 Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in one of the telegram channels, a representative of the aggressor country offered the suspect to earn some money, to which he agreed.
The “job” was to set fire to vehicles that bore the characteristic signs of belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The fire was to be filmed and sent to the enemy.
After the video report was sent, the suspect’s account received a “payment”.
Subsequently, after burning the first car, the suspect enlisted the help of his friend.
Together, the men burned two more cars. After that, they were exposed and detained by law enforcement.
Such arsons were necessary for the enemy to broadcast propaganda about alleged Ukrainian protests in the Russian media.
At the request of the prosecution, the most stringent preventive measures in the form of detention without bail were imposed on the suspects.
Measures are currently being taken to identify the instigators of the arson.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the SBU Office in Lviv region. Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Police and the SBU CI Department were involved in solving the crime.
Note: In accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
