The law enforcement officers remind once again that in the conditions of martial law, maximum punishments are provided for committing theft, robbery, robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position.
On September 7, around 7:00 p.m., the police received a report from a 68-year-old resident of Luhansk region that she had been robbed on Bolehivska Street in Stryi.
The investigative team and other employees of the Stryi district police department immediately went to the scene of the incident. As the law enforcement officers established, the perpetrator, a 36-year-old resident of the city of Stebnyk, Drogobytsky district, who was already facing criminal charges, in particular, for robbery, ran up to the victim and defiantly took her gold chain with a cross, after which he ran away.
With the measures taken, the police quickly established the location of the intruder and detained him. Physical evidence was taken from him.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, informed the perpetrator of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 4 of article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
According to the court’s decision, the suspect was remanded in custody.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
