Lviv resident to be tried for $7,000 to become a “second driver” – for assistance in organising illegal border crossing

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have sent to court an indictment against a 26-year-old Lviv resident on the fact of assistance in organising the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the accused, during the martial law, assisted in organising the illegal transfer of a person liable for military service across the state border.

For this purpose, in return for a monetary reward, he promised to produce documents for travelling abroad. Namely, as a second driver of a vehicle travelling outside Ukraine.

The cost of this service was USD 7,000.

The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine – during the transfer of funds.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support provided by officers of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: In accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
