In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers detained a perpetrator suspected of illegally transporting a conscript across the border.
Case Details
It was established that for 13,500 dollars, the suspect developed a plan and route for the ‘client’ to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine during martial law.
The perpetrator was exposed by investigators from the Stryi District Police Department together with operatives from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving funds from the ‘client’ in the amount of 13,500 dollars.
Legal Consequences
Investigators informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to bail.
Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
