In the Lviv region, over the past day, rescuers have extinguished 17 fires, including 10 outbreaks in natural ecosystems. The total area affected by these fires exceeded 1.5 hectares. This was reported by the State Emergency Service in the Lviv region.
Rescuers are currently continuing to tackle peat fires near the village of Zeliv in the Yavoriv district and the village of Sytykhiv in the Lviv district. Every day, firefighters work to eliminate smouldering hotspots to prevent the further spread of fire.
The State Emergency Service stresses that a significant proportion of such fires could be avoided if citizens observed fire safety rules.
Rescuers urge residents of the region to:
- not burn dry grass or rubbish;
- not leave campfires unextinguished;
- not throw cigarette butts into the grass.
Specialists emphasise that following these simple rules will help preserve nature, save human lives and support the work of those who stand every day between fire and danger.
