Over a day in Lviv region, rescuers extinguished 42 fires, most of them in natural ecosystems

Over the 24-hour duty period from 10 to 11 August, units of the State Emergency Service in Lviv region were called out 42 times to tackle fires of various types. Of these, 29 outbreaks occurred in natural ecosystems.

The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region is urging residents of the region to act responsibly when it comes to fire safety. Rescuers stress that it is forbidden to burn dry vegetation and rubbish, to leave open fires unattended or to behave carelessly with them.

They emphasise that even a small fire in dry grass can quickly spread over a large area and pose a threat to people, residential buildings and natural areas. The State Emergency Service reminds everyone that it is easier to prevent a fire than to deal with its consequences.
