A 39-year-old resident of Transcarpathia has been sentenced to 9 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of committing two robberies under Parts 2 and 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This was reported by prosecutors of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office.
The court established that in February 2022 the man, who had been released from prison about a month earlier, entered a shop in Boryslav and, taking advantage of the absence of the shop assistant, took 2,000 UAH from the till. When the shop assistant noticed the theft and tried to recover the money, he broke free and fled.
Another incident took place in Skhidnytsia. There, the convicted man saw a gold chain on a passer-by’s neck, approached him, tore off the piece of jewellery worth over 12,000 UAH and again fled.
It is noted that the man had previously been repeatedly convicted of property offences, including thefts, robberies and fraud.
The pre-trial investigation in this criminal proceeding was carried out by the Investigation Unit of the Police Department of the Drohobych District Police Division of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
