So, on August 8, around 5:15 p.m., in the village of Opaka, Drohobytsky District, the driver of a Volkswagen Transporter, a 32-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district, collided with a cyclist, an 11-year-old local resident. As a result of the accident, the boy was injured and, despite the efforts of doctors, died in the ambulance.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
Another traffic accident occurred around 7:20 p.m. in the village of Dvirtsi in the Chervonograd district. As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Volkswagen Transporter, a 50-year-old resident of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, collided with a cyclist, a 13-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district. As a result of the accident, the girl received bodily injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
In addition, around 11:30 a.m. in the village of Novy Mylyatyn, Zolochiv district, the driver of a VAZ-2101 car, a 15-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Lviv district, hit a cyclist, a 67-year-old local resident. As a result of the accident, the elderly man received bodily injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
Based on these facts, the investigators of the territorial units of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty stipulated by the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years.
