The police of the Lviv Region remind all road users of the need to strictly comply with the requirements of the Road Traffic Rules.
Drivers – do not exceed the permitted or safe speed and always monitor the situation around you. Dear parents! Do not be too lazy to remind your children of the basic rules of road behavior, in particular – the rules of crossing the roadway.
The first traffic accident occurred on May 16 at 4:20 p.m. on the highway “Nizhankovichi-Sambir-Drohobych-Stry”, near the village of Horodyshche, Sambir district. As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the KIA Cerato, a 62-year-old resident of the city of Stryi, hit a pedestrian – a 15-year-old girl who was crossing the road in an unspecified place. As a result of the collision, the minor received bodily injuries and was taken to the hospital.
On the same day at 7:50 p.m., the driver of a Kia Ceed hit a pedestrian – an 11-year-old girl from Lviv who was crossing the road at a crosswalk – on Pidvalny Street in Lviv. As in the previous case, as a result of the collision, the girl was injured and taken to the hospital.
In both cases, investigators opened criminal proceedings under Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Pre-trial investigations are being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the events.
