The police of the Lviv region once again calls on pedestrians to strictly follow the traffic rules, to be attentive and careful, to cross the road only at crosswalks and on green lights, and drivers not to exceed the permitted speed, to refrain from risky maneuvers and to be careful when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings .
So, on March 29, around 3:30 p.m., in the village of Kotsuriv, Lviv district, the driver of a Volkswagen Transporter, a 23-year-old local resident, while driving in reverse, hit a 69-year-old woman from Lviv. As a result of the road accident, the elderly woman received bodily injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
Another traffic accident happened around 5:10 p.m. on Peremyshlska Street in Sambor. As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Skoda Octavia car, a 48-year-old resident of Sambor, hit a pedestrian, a 13-year-old resident of Zakarpattia region. As a result of the accident, the boy was injured and hospitalized.
Based on these facts, investigators of the territorial units of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The maximum penalty provided for by the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the events.
