Three pedestrians killed in Lviv region over the past day

The Lviv regional police once again calls on pedestrians to strictly follow the traffic rules, be careful and cautious, cross the road only on pedestrian crossings and on green light, use reflective elements in the dark, and drivers – not to exceed the speed limit, refuse risky maneuvers and be careful when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings. Take care of your life and health!

On February 14, at about 20:00, on Promyslova Street in Sambir, the driver of a Renault Master, a 38-year-old resident of Dobromyl, hit a 71-year-old resident of a village in Sambir district. The elderly man died at the scene of the accident from his injuries.

Another traffic accident occurred at around 20:30 near the village of Uhryniv, Chervonohrad district. As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Renault Master, a 32-year-old resident of Volyn Oblast, hit a 47-year-old resident of a village in the district. The pedestrian died on the spot from the injuries sustained in the accident.

In addition, at about 20:40, on the Eastern Approach to Lviv road, the driver of a Skoda Fabia, a 20-year-old resident of a village in Lviv district, ran over a 62-year-old resident of Lviv. The man died at the scene from the injuries sustained in the accident.

Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings over these facts under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
