The prosecutors of the Halytsky District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to the court against the former head of one of the district administrations of the Lviv City Council for official negligence that caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the official issued an order without grounds and signed a certificate for the object, on the basis of which the cultural monument in the center of Lviv was illegally privatized.
As a result, the House of Scientists – a historical building with a total area of more than 3,200 square meters – was illegally removed from the communal property of the regional community.
Due to official negligence of the official, losses of almost 12 million hryvnias were caused to the territorial community.
An arrest was made on the illegally seized premises.
Also, the head of the district prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit with the Commercial Court of the Lviv region to claim the premises from illegal possession.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Lviv Region, operational support was carried out by the Strategic Investigations Department in the Lviv Region of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
