Eight drink-drivers caught in Lviv in a single night

In Lviv, over the course of a single night, patrol officers identified eight drink-drivers. All offenders were issued with reports under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences and were removed from driving their vehicles.

In three cases, the materials will be handed over to investigators, as these drivers, according to the police, failed to comply with a court decision depriving them of their driving licence for a previous drink-driving offence.

Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (driving a vehicle while intoxicated or refusing to undergo an examination) provides for a fine of 17,000 hryvnias and disqualification from driving for 1 year.

Part 2 of Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (repeat drink-driving within a year) provides for a fine of 34,000 hryvnias and disqualification from driving for 3 years with or without the paid seizure of the vehicle, or administrative arrest for 10 days with or without the paid seizure of the vehicle.

Part 3 of Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (a third and subsequent drink-driving offence within a year) provides for a fine of 51,000 hryvnias and disqualification from driving for 10 years with confiscation of the vehicle, or administrative arrest for 15 days with disqualification from driving for 10 years and confiscation of the vehicle.

Part 4 of Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (consumption by a driver of alcohol, narcotic or psychotropic substances, or medicinal products after a road traffic collision involving them and before undergoing an examination) provides for a fine of 34,000 hryvnias or administrative arrest for 15 days with disqualification from driving for 3 years.

The police remind drivers of the unacceptability of driving while intoxicated and warn that such actions endanger both the driver and other road users.
