For brutally beating a fox, three youths from Chervonohrad Oblast face up to eight years in prison

Three residents of the Chervonograd district face five to eight years in prison for the crime.

On February 28, while monitoring social networks, the police found a video in which unknown persons brutally beat a fox with a wooden stick.

According to the fact, the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under part 4 of Article 299 (Cruel treatment of animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years with confiscation of the animal.

Employees of the Office for Combating Cybercrimes in the Lviv region and operatives of the criminal investigation police of the Lviv region were involved in solving the crime. Through the conducted measures, the law enforcement officers established that the event took place in a forest strip near one of the villages in the Chervonohrad district. The identities of the participants of the event have also been established – three 19-year-old local residents. They were immediately searched and physical evidence was seized.

The police directed the fox to be investigated.

The pre-trial investigation continues, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
