At the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the former policeman was found guilty of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm that caused the death of the victim (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court sentenced him to 8 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that in January 2023, the accused beat his wife to death.
During another conflict, the person involved beat his 50-year-old wife, inflicting severe injuries on her. After that, he put the woman on the sofa and went to sleep.
At night, the accused heard the victim wheezing and called an ambulance. The paramedic arrived and pronounced the woman dead.
During the court session, the accused did not admit guilt, did not repent of what he had done.
At the time of the crime, the man worked as a police officer in one of the district police departments.
He is currently in custody. He was dismissed from the police force.
The court verdict becomes legally binding after the expiry of the appeal period.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the territorial department of the SBI.
